Everyday Food

Everyday food should involve the six groups of nutrients: carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, fibers, mineral salts and water in correct proportions. These nutrients in spite of providing vital energy to our life also help in avoiding some serious diseases such as: diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and high blood pressure. However, the requirements of these nutrients are different for different people. It depends on their age, sex and physical activity. Healthy foods should be eaten daily in order to stay fit.

Obesity in people is of major concern today. Obesity may lead to diabetes and heart diseases. Everyday diet involving all the vital nutrients is one of the solutions for most of the health ailments arising because of fast and stressed lifestyle. Everyday foods play a significant role in developing a healthy body and mind.

Foods to be eaten everyday are:

• Cereals: One must include cereals like rice, bread and chapattis in his/her diet. They contain carbohydrates which provide instant energy to our body.

• Protein-rich foods: Protein-rich foods like pulses, eggs, meat, fish and milk products are important for the growth and wear and tear of the body. They contribute valuable nutrients to our body.

• Fruits and vegetables: Fruits and vegetables are the ideal source of vitamins and minerals. They contain a good amount of antioxidants and phytochemicals which help to boost our immune system. For instance, carrots and tomatoes have great anti-cancer properties. They even reduce the risk of many serious illnesses like asthma and arthritis. Spinach is very good for muscle growth and reduces the risk of osteoporosis, stroke and heart diseases. Fruits such as oranges and berries are great sources of vitamins and fiber. Berries are extremely helpful for treating diabetes. These fruits are a great help in maintaining a good heart.

“To eat well is an art.” There is a thin line between overfeeding and eating with contentment. Our body should be properly nourished, but it should not be overfed. Overstuffing does lead to many serious health problems like obesity, diabetes and heart diseases.

The best way to get all the nutrients is including a variety of foods in your diet. 

Foods that you should include in your daily diet are:

Yoghurt: Yoghurt in spite of boosting the immune system has extraordinary anticancer properties. It is a rich source of calcium which prevents you from getting osteoporosis.

Walnuts: Walnuts act as good brain stimulants and are very good for muscle growth. They contain omega-3 fatty acids.

Green Tea: Research shows that green tea has exceptional anticancer properties. The antioxidants present in green tea greatly help in boosting one’s metabolism.

Olive Oil:  Olive oil controls the bad cholesterol level, while increasing the good cholesterol level in our body. They are also a good source of antioxidants.
